Shiatsu

A powerful form of bodywork originating from Japan,
grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine theory.

Shiatsu massage invites the mind to rest into the sensations of the body,
it allows your body to calm and the nervous system to re-balance.
Shiatsu is a beautiful way to receive deep care and nourishment,
inviting a smooth flow of energy throughout the entire body.

Shiatsu massage provides a therapeutic treatment that works on a deep holistic level.
It brings about balance within the energy pathways or meridians of the body.

When the flow of energy or Ki is balanced this enables the body’s self healing process.

“I’ve been seeing Sarah for shiatsu treatments for ten years, after previously trying many different physical and holistic health therapies for a chronic health condition. Sarah is by far the best holistic health practitioner or massage therapist I have ever seen. She listens deeply to her clients’ needs and sensitively offers caring and responsive treatments that are tailored to you. She is a lovely person with a calming and supportive presence. I cannot recommend Sarah enough!”

  • Alleviates pain and discomfort
  • Supports the body back to its natural balance.

Shiatsu may be able to help with:

  • Pregnancy support

A Shiatsu massage is performed fully clothed on a futon.

Pressure is applied with awareness using fingers, palms, elbows, feet and forearms.

The pressure applied can be light, or deep and penetrating,
depending on the individual needs of each client and the part of the body being worked.

Before receiving a shiatsu a conversation is had that looks at a variety of health questions,
that enables an individual treatment plan to be created.

The client can guide what is priority for them, as well as looking at:

  • energy levels
  • digestion
  • sleep
  • stress/emotional health
  • physical areas that may need attention and
  • other lifestyle questions that influence wellbeing
